How to Germinate Cannabis Seeds

Choosing the right seed for the Season ☀️

Malta offers growers many seasons to choose from, both for indoor and also for outdoor growing. To start growing Cannabis one must choose the right strain of Marijuana seed to cater for the preferences and also complement the growing conditions present during the months of gorwing.

If the grow will be during hot summer months, you need to choose a heat resistant type of strain such as a Super Lemon Haze, OG Kush or Wedding Sherbert.
If on the other hand you will be growing during cooler Autumn months, it makes sense to take advantage of the Auto flowering genes which are more adapted to grow in colder climates and choose something from; Northern Lights Auto, Cali Haze Auto or Wedding Cake Auto.

Germination Step by Step 🪴

Germination is the process where a cannabis seed is triggered to start it's life. I have tested many methods to germinate seeds, and will be sharing with you the easiest method I found that works and has a high % success rate. Even with good seeds and great conditions, one can expect that an average of 1-2 seeds per 10 seeds will not germinate. This is completely normal, and it's the reason why I suggest starting with 10 seeds if you want 4 healthy plants. This way, from 10 seeds 8 will germinate, from those 8, another 1 or 2 will show signs of slow growth from the start and we get rid of them. From the remaining 6 seedlings we'll wait 3-4 weeks and keep the healthiest and fastest growing 4. This process is called genetic selection, and will result in starting with the best genetic phenotypes possible. Do not cheap out on seeds, you don't want to be wasting time with 'handicap' phenotype seeds!

The Germination Steps

1. Fill a cup of drinking water (Not tap water)

2. Drop the seeds inside the water and cover the cup

3. Place the cup with the water and seeds somewhere dark, and leave it there for 48 hours

4. Take out the seeds from the water, a white tail should now be visible. Place the seed 1cmdown inside the soil, position the white tail pointing downwards in the soil.

5. Water the soil gently and after 2-5 days you should see the small seedling shoot out of the soil. During this period the plant is extremely fragile, make sure to have wind shelter and also sun shelter if growing in Summer months.

6. Water the seedling once every 2-3 days. Be gentle with watering!
